![]() Richard Thripp, former Democratic congressional candidate and newly elected Volusia County Democratic chair, issued a statement supporting the endorsement revocal: On Wednesday, Congressman Waltz suggested Trump’s case should be heard by the Supreme Court: “ I think anybody, any American, Biden’s supporters, should want those resolved and settled and explained so that the country can move forward.” Waltz commended an effort by Texas attorney general Ken Paxton against the states of Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin alleging voting rules were changed unconstitutionally, specifically calling Paxton’s suit “very legitimate, very thorough”. Waltz was joined by ten other Florida congressmen in supporting the measure. “We had no idea, had no way of knowing at the time, that Waltz was not committed to democracy.” “ We apologize to our readers for endorsing Michael Waltz in the 2020 general election for Congress,” said the newspaper’s editorial board. A former elementary-school teacher, she’s been a rock-solid member of the board, sensible and pragmatic. Voters should return Castor Dentel for a full four-year term. Karen Castor Dentel served a single, two-year term in the state Legislature but returned to politics in 2018 by winning this seat, which her predecessor vacated early. Scott is thoughtful about the issues facing Orange County schools, and it’s clear he cares about young people having successful futures.Ī third candidate is Vicki-Elaine Felder, who has several decades of teaching experience and a heart for students. Scott is deeply involved in volunteer work in the community, from Scouting to county committees to other charities. This race has a better candidate in Michael “Mike” Scott, who runs a charity called Helping All Youth Achieve. It sounds like he bought an address so he can continue his political career. Antone said he rented a room inside the district in June. The address where he claims a homestead exemption is outside district boundaries. More troubling is the question of whether Antone even lives in the district where he’s running, which is required by law. Mike Scott, running for Orange County School Board District 5 He hasn’t bothered to create a website where people can go to see what he believes and what he wants to do. Antone is running as if he expects a coronation. The other candidate is Dayna Gaut, a former teacher and paramedic. Navy veteran, has run for different offices - county commission and Congress - before. The challengers in this race didn’t make a good enough case for unseating Gould. Gould’s eyes seem wide open about the challenges facing Orange County, and her current job in public health ought to help. ![]() It’s not a bad attribute for someone who’s making decisions that affect so many thousands of students and families.
